How to clone and customize existing strategies.
One of the most effective ways to build profitable strategies is to start with an existing one and modify it. Tradient makes it easy to clone any strategy and customize it.
How to Clone
- 1Find a strategy you want to modify — from templates, your own library, or shared strategies
- 2Click Clone or Duplicate to create a copy in your library
- 3The copy is fully editable while the original remains unchanged
- 4Make your modifications using the AI Agent or Visual Builder
- 5Backtest the modified version and compare results to the original
Effective Modifications
- Change the instrument — A strategy designed for forex may work on crypto with parameter adjustments
- Adjust the timeframe — Moving from 1-hour to 4-hour often changes strategy character significantly
- Add filters — Add a trend filter or volatility filter to reduce bad trades
- Modify risk management — Adjust stop loss and take profit to fit your risk tolerance
- Change indicators — Replace one indicator with a similar alternative (e.g., SMA to EMA)
When modifying, change one thing at a time and backtest after each change. This tells you exactly which modifications improve (or hurt) performance.
